ARLINGTON – Despite 16 kills and eight blocks from
Madison Dyer, the Sam Houston Bearkats fell 3-1 to UT Arlington on Saturday afternoon at the College Park Center.
Sam Houston (6-18, 3-7 WAC) dominated the net with a 16-11 advantage in blocks, but UTA (14-7, 6-3 WAC) held the edge at the service line with seven aces and found late advantage with narrow wins in Sets 2 and 4.
Dyer led the push at the net, but was aided by both
Madison Frusha and
Elizabeth See who had seven blocks apiece as well.
Hannah Baker added 24 digs and
Avery Fowler had 29 assists.
The Kats also got a dozen kills apiece from
Catherine Krieger and
Alyssa Fielder, but UTA's Brianna Ford turned in a monster game for the Mavs in scoring 25 kills with a .404 attack percentage along with four blocks.
Sam Houston will try to put an end to its 6-match skid next week on the road when it heads west for matches at California Baptist and Grand Canyon.
