DALLAS – Sam Houston volleyball closed out its 2025 season with a pair of recent postseason honors as outside hitter Chloe Monson was named the Conference USA All-Freshman team and Lauren Malone was named to the league's all-academic team.
Monson was twice named the league's freshman of the week during the year and led the Kats with 3.65 kills per set, ranking third overall in CUSA. That average ranked sixth in the nation among freshmen, while her 434 total kills are the second most in the country among freshmen, trailing only BYU's Suli Davis.
She reached double figures in kills in 22 of matches on the year and went past 20 on seven occasions, including a season-high 29 kills last weekend at Delaware.
Malone, meanwhile, joined the Kats as a graduate transfer from Coastal Carolina and immediately paired with Monson to give Sam Houston a dynamic pair of outside hitters in 2025. The Round Rock native landed on the all-academic team after holding a 4.00 GPA in biology and averaging 2.72 kills per set for the year.
She started all 29 matches for the Kats and hit at a solid .189 clip while adding 2.49 digs per set on the defensive side. Malone set a season-high with 27 kills against Stephen F. Austin on her way to making the all-tournament team at the SFA Tournament early in the year. From there she went on to post a dozen double-doubles on the year, including doing so in each of the final four matches of the season.
