PHOENIX — The Sam Houston soccer team closed out the season with a 2-0 loss at Grand Canyon on Saturday night.
The Bearkats finished head coach Sonia Curvelo's first season with a 3-11-2 overall record and 2-8-1 Western Athletic Conference mark. However, Sam Houston lost six games by one goal.
The Lopes got the scoring started with a goal in the 25
th minute by Gianna Gourley and added to the lead three minutes later to go up 2-0. Grand Canyon scored the final four goals in the second half.
The Kats had five shots on goal, two coming from Kennedy Baquero and one each from
Landri Townsend, Kinsey Hill and Kamryn Baquero. Keeper
Tatum Krueger had seven saves.
