
Kats close cross country season at WAC meet

NACOGDOCHES — The Sam Houston men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up the season at the Western Athletic Conference Championships at Pecan Acres Park on Saturday.
The Bearkat men placed seventh with 209 points while the women were 13th. Gudisa Adnow finished the 8K race in a time of 23:58.70 which was good enough for 14th to earn second-team All-WAC honors along with teammate Christian Rivera who ran the course in a time of 24:15.10 to finish 20th.
Elijah McWilliams finished 23rd with a time of 24:19.5, Bryan Mileski was 72nd at 25:44.9, Wyatt Lehmann was 81st at 26:25.1, Jacob Zimmerman was 84th at 26:35.7 and Eli Ortiz was 86th at 26:42.8.
Ellie Galan was the top finisher for the women's team, coming in 56th with a time of 23:00.3. Sasha Elizondo placed 61st with a time of 23:13.2, Ami Clark was 73rd at 23:50.5, Kristen Wilson was 75th at 23:55.8 and Lauren Johansson was 80th at 24:08.2.
California Baptist claimed its third straight men's team title and won the women's championship.
The Lancers scored 24 team points in the women's 6K to defeat runner-up Utah Valley (49 points). New Mexico State (86 points), Southern Utah (93 points) and Grand Canyon (147 points) comprised the remainder of the 6K top five. CBU won the men's 8K with 23 points, besting other top-five finishers Southern Utah (63 points), Utah Valley (67 points), UT Arlington (187 points) and Stephen F. Austin (193 points).
