MILLSBORO, Del. — The Sam Houston bowling team could not gain ground to advance to the championship round at the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic on Saturday at Millsboro Lanes.
The Bearkats remain in sixth place after going 3-2 once again on day two to finish with 9,243 total pins. Vanderbilt (9,820), North Carolina A&T (9,578), Delaware State (9,418) and Fairleigh Dickinson (9,418) will battle for the championship on Sunday.
"When routine shot making isn't routine it's mental," head coach Brad Hagen said. "We have to clean up our sloppy play and be better cohesively. A demanding shot and a demanding field make every spare even more valuable and there's just no excuse for what's happening.
"We're exhausting way too much energy to be efficient and to control our narrative. Sunday needs to be better."
Elise Chambers placed 12th in the individual standings after knocking down 1,002 pins on Saturday. Her best game was a 256 and she finished with a 200.4 average in five matches.
Kaia Gray was just behind her in 13th with 994 total pins. She averaged 198.8 with a 221 coming in the third game.
