Soccer adds four signees for 2023

HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston soccer head coach Sonia Curvelo is pleased to announce the addition of four new players for the 2023 season.

Midfielders Lennon Porter, Ariana Carrington, Hannah Bolin and Cadence Sanders have all signed letters of intent to play for the Bearkats.
"I am excited about the new signees joining our 2023 class. Each player is strong athletically and academically and have a drive to win championships and perform well academically in the classroom, which is important at the level we are building at Sam Houston," Curvelo said. "Academic and athletic excellence is very important to our program and time management skills and commitment is important to have at the Division l level. We have a strong core returning that will only improve and get better and have demonstrated they want to win games and championships by the way they prepare in training and compete in games and the signees have the same motivation.
"The signees come from great clubs in Texas so they understand the importance of preparing and improving each day and competing. The returners and signees will help build a positive championship program together. We will be signing more players over the months, and we will have a large and impactful class of 2023 come in to elevate the quality of our program. I look forward to the present and future of this program and building something special here that we can all be proud of."

Lennon Porter
Porter is a four-year letterwinner at Burleson High School. She is a three-time all-district and all-county team selection, a two-time all-academic honoree, a seven-year North Texas ODP team and South Region ODP player.

She is the Burleson High School student council vice president and played club for Dallas Texans ECNL. Porter is also a varsity cross country runner and regional qualifier. She plans to major in business administration.

Ariana Carrington
Carrington is and all-academic midfielder from Denton and plays for Billy C. Ryan High School. She also plays club for the Dallas Texans ECRL 04/05G as a forward, attacking midfielder and defender.

Carrington plans to major in biomedical sciences.

Hannah Bolin
Bolin is from Richmond and attends Foster High School. Last season, she was first-team all-region and District 24-5A Midfielder of the Year. As a sophomore, she was second-team all-state and District 24-5A Midfielder of the Year and team captain.

Bolin plays club for the Albion Hurricanes FC ECNL. She is ranked third in her class, a National Merit Scholar qualifier, and AP Scholar with Distinction. She plans to major in finance.

Cadence Sanders
Sanders is a three-time first-team all-district selection from Baytown who attends Barbers Hill High School. Last season, she was district Co-Utility Player of the Year, TASCO second-team all-region and SETCA Player of the Year.

She was the district Midfielder of the Year in 2021 and the Newcomer of the year in 2020. She plays club for 04-05 Dash GA and plans to major in animal science.
