RUSTON, La. — The Sam Houston softball team snapped a four-game skid with a 4-2 victory over Louisiana Tech at the LA Tech Invitational on Saturday.
Brodie Quinlan had a clutch day for the Bearkats (3-4), going 2 for 4 at the plate including the game-winning two-run double in the eighth inning.
Mika Vento got the win in the circle, pitching all eight innings to earn her first victory of the season.
Quinlan led the game off with a solo home run to right field to give Sam Houston the early lead. The Lady Techsters answered with a solo home run in the second, but the game was scoreless the next five innings.
The Kats put the game away in the eighth when
Kenzi Lange was placed on second due to the international tiebreak rule and moved to third on an infield single by
Haleigh Carter. Quinlan ripped a double to left-center field and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Kyndal Kutac.
The Bearkats also beat Tulsa 5-4 on Saturday.
