BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Sam Houston ended its season with 3-2 loss to Western Kentucky on day two of the Conference USA Tournament at WKU Softball Complex on Thursday afternoon.
The Bearkats completed their season with a 28-29 record after a strong performance at their first CUSA tournament.
Morgan Holliday smashed a two-run home run in the fourth inning, the only scoring play for the Kats to give them a 2-1 lead.
Amy Abke made her return to the circle after being out due to injury since the Kennesaw State series. She allowed three runs on nine hits in her outing and received the loss.
The Hilltoppers reached the board first with a solo home run to take the early lead.
Following Holliday's home run, the Toppers scored two more runs to secure the win.
Freshman Tiffany Sanchez walked back-to-back batters before Kendall Daniel came in as relief. Daniel pitched three innings allowing two hits and one strikeout.
