Bowlers qualify as No. 4 seed at Stallings Invite

Despite a late stumble, the Bearkats did enough on Saturday to qualify for the championship bracket at the Stallings Invitational.

The Kats closed out the first two days of the event, hosted by North Carolina A&T, with a 7-3 record and will be the No. 4 seed in Sunday's match play.

"Today overall was better but the last pair got brutal and just made spare shooting tough," said head coach Brad Hagen. "We certainly have a better handle in the fresh so we need to take what we learned this morning and apply it."

The Kats posted wins over No. 14 Delaware State, Florida A&M and No. 12 Fairleigh Dickenson. They finished the day with a 195.6 average, getting into the top 4 by just 17 pins. They will face Delaware State in the bracket play on Sunday.

Individually, Elise Chamber led the way for the Bearkats with a 217 average. She had a high game of 269 which was also tops on the day for the Kats. Denise Blankenzee is 12^th overall with a 204 average and a high game of 239.
