Looking to build on the continued success of the bowling program, head coach Brad Hagen has announced the signing of high school bowler Isabella Colon.
Colon, of Crest Hill Illinois, is coming off one of her most successful weekends and 3-4 weeks stretch of her career. In February she exceled at the state level where she helped her high school Lockport Township High School to a state championship.
At the state tournament she finished as the No. 6 individual bowler, while winning the schools second state title in the last three years.
This past weekend she won the girls scratch division championship at the AYBT stop on Saturday and then turned around Sunday to win the NWIJTPA girls scratch division championship. Both are elite youth sport pattern tours that travel around the Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan areas to provide great opportunities to compete for local youth surrounding state bowlers.
"Isabella's enthusiasm, passion, and future aspirations academically and athletically will fit very well with the dynamics and culture that this team has set in place," Hagen said. "Her national and local competitive experience and what she aspires of herself to contribute will play key roles in her success on and off the lanes. I believe based on our conversations and her mannerisms that this young lady is hungry to win at a high level, looking to make her own statement at the collegiate ranks, and willing to go above and beyond to do so, which makes her an excellent addition to this program's future."
In addition to competing in the AYBT, and NWIJTPA local tours and gaining experience there, she has also been competing in some of the largest and most prestigious youth events in the country.
She has been a regular at the USBC Junior Gold Championship where this past year in Indianapolis she finished 53rd out of 560, as well as a regular competitor with the SYC circuit that travels all over the nation.
At Sam Houston she plans on majoring in Computer Science.
