HUNTSVILLE — Abilene Christian rallied in game two of a doubleheader against the Sam Houston softball team to clinch a WAC series victory with a pair of wins on Friday at the Bearkat Softball Complex.
The Bearkats (9-23, 3-5) took a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning of the nightcap when
Haleigh Carter led off with a double to left field and stole third base.
Brodie Quinlan brought her home with a sacrifice fly to center field that tied the game at 2.
With two outs,
Elia Hebel singled through the left side and
Brailey Wasik followed with an RBI double to right center field.
The Wildcats (17-14, 8-3) retook the lead with two runs in the top of the seventh, and Sam Houston left the game-winning runs on base after Quinlan and Hebel both singled.
ACU won the first game 12-2 in five innings.
The Bearkats got two runs in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run double by
Emily Telg but could not score again to extend it.
The teams will wrap up the series with a single game Saturday at noon.
