Kats earn men’s hoops All-WAC honors

DENVER — Sam Houston landed two players on the All-Western Athletic Conference teams, the league announced on Monday.

Savion Flagg was named to the All-WAC first team and to the All-Newcomer team. Javion May was selected to the All-Defensive team.

Flagg is the third leading scorer in the WAC, averaging 18.7 points per game. He has scored in double figures in 29 of the 30 games he has played in this season including a consecutive game streak of 28 which is the longest in the country this season.

The Alvin native also averages 8.1 rebounds per game which is also third in conference and 2.1 assists per game. He has posted eight double-doubles.

May is an elite defender who is tasked with guarding the top scorer on opposing teams depending on the matchup. He was key in holding Teddy Allen, the league's player of the year and leading scorer, to just two points in the Bearkats' 71-46 victory over New Mexico State on Jan. 20.

He averages 5.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.36 steals per game.
