NACOGDOCHES — Sam Houston couldn't string together enough offense in a pair of losses to Stephen F. Austin on Friday afternoon.
The Bearkats (10-26 overall, 4-7 WAC) dropped the first game 3-0 and fell in the second 3-2. The two teams will play the three-game series finale Saturday at noon.
Sam Houston rallied back to tie the second game in the seventh inning after falling behind 2-1.
Kylie Hobbs doubled to begin the frame and a pair of walks loaded the bases.
Sheridan Fisher hit a single to left field to bring home the tying run, but the Kats left the bases loaded.
The Ladyjacks (17-16, 9-2) were able to score the game-winning run on a double and a fielding error in the bottom of the seventh to sweep the doubleheader.
Mika Vento went all seven innings in the circle. She allowed only one earned run.
Regan Dunn pitched will in the series opener, only giving up three runs. Sam Houston, however, managed just two hits by
Kylie Hobbs and
