BEAUMONT — The Sam Houston softball team rallied from a run down in the seventh to complete a three-game WAC series sweep over Lamar with a 6-4 victory at LU Softball Complex on Saturday.
The Bearkats (15-38 overall, 8-16 WAC) secured the No. 6 in the WAC Tournament which will be held at the Bearkat Softball Complex Wednesday through Saturday.
Trailing 4-3 heading into the seventh inning,
Tricia Yarotsky drew a lead-off walk and came around to score on an RBI double to right center field by
Sheridan Fisher who advanced to third on the throw.
Haleigh Carter reached on a fielder's choice, and
Kyndal Kutac gave Sam Houston its first lead of the game with a sacrifice fly.
Kylie Hobbs added an insurance run with an RBI single through the left side.
Mika Vento pitched 6 2/3 innings in relief to earn the victory, her sixth of the season.
The Bearkats fell behind 3-0 in the first inning and finally got on the board with a run in the third.

Emily Telg drew back-to-back walks, and
Brodie Quinlan hit a two-out RBI single.
Sam Houston cut the lead to 3-2 in the fifth when
Ellie Grill singled up the middle to begin the frame, stole second base and moved to third on a wild pitch. She eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Carter.
After the Cardinals got a run back in the bottom of the fifth,
Regan Dunn got Sam Houston back to within striking distance when she led off the sixth with an inside home run down the right field line to make it 4-3.
