Islander Classic Kicks Off Long Road Trip For Kats
The Kats put on a show in Tuesday night's sweep of Prairie View, its home opener for 2022. But that will be the last time SHSU fans see the Kats on their home floor for a while as Sam Houston's trip to Corpus Christi kicks off a stretch of 11 consecutive road matches. The Kats will not be at home again until hosting rival Stephen F. Austin on September 24.

Baker Nearing 1,000 Career Digs
It has not taken long for libero Hannah Baker to rise up the ranks of career digs at Sam Houston and is beginning her approach of a career milestone of her own, now with 885. With 115 more digs she would be come the 19th player in Bearkat history with 1,000 digs.

Kats To Battle Former League Foe
Former members of the Southland Conference, Sam Houston and A&M-Corpus Christi have had their fair share of big matches, and will have another on the Islanders' home court on Friday night on ESPN+. Sam Houston owns a 24-18 all-time lead in the series, but the teams have evenly split their last eight matches since 2017. But the Kats have had their troubles on The Island and will be looking for just their second win at the Dugan Wellness Center in 11 tries since 2013.

Dyer Named To All-Tournament Team At K-State Invitational
Freshman Madison Dyer burst onto the scene in a loud way over the weekend, earning all-tournament honors at the K-State Invitational. She racked up 37 kills in the three matches, leading the Kats with an average of 3.08 kills per set and hitting at a .338 clip. The Flower Mound product did much of her damage in the final two matches, with 14 kills against Florida A&M and 18 against NC State and followed that up with another 10 kills in Tuesday's sweep of Prairie View.
