Kats hosting free fall exhibition games

HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston softball team has eight exhibition games this fall in preparation for the 2023 season.

The Bearkats kick off the fall slate with a game at the Bearkat Softball Complex against Houston on Saturday at 1 p.m. Admission to all fall exhibition games is free and open to the public.
The Kats return 14 players off last year's club and have seven newcomers including five transfers and two freshmen.
"We are looking forward to competing this fall against several very good programs at various levels," head coach Garrett Valis said. "We are looking for development and growth in all areas to prepare for a challenging spring season."
Sam Houston will host Temple College on Oct. 7 at 5:30 p.m. and Blinn College on Oct. 12 at 4. LSU comes to Huntsville for a 6 p.m. game on Oct. 14.
The Kats will host Navarro College on Oct. 19 at 5 p.m. and San Jacinto College on Oct. 26 at 5 p.m. Sam Houston hits the road for its lone away game at North Texas on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.
Sam Houston then wraps things up with a game against McLennan Community College on Oct. 28 at 5 p.m.
