
Kats finish 5th at Colonial Classic

HARAHAN, La. — The Sam Houston bowling team placed fifth at the Colonial Lanes Classic hosted by Tulane on Sunday.
The Bearkats were in third heading into Sunday's best-of-seven matches and opened the day with a 4-2 loss to Oklahoma Christian to set up a match with Tulane. The Green Wave were able to come away with a 4-1 victory to send Sam Houston to the fifth-place match.
The Kats squared off against rival Stephen F. Austin and handed the Ladyjacks a 4-3 defeat.
"Today was a grind and where the first two days we were a lot more patient just couldn't maintain anything today," head coach Brad Hagen said. Solid start overall and anytime we can leave an event with nine or more wins as well as a top five finish, that we can a build off from."
The Bearkats will be back in action when they host the TRACK Kat Clash at the Emerald Bowl in Houston on Nov. 3-5.

North Carolina A&T which lead wire to wire won the team championship. Louisiana Tech placed second, Oklahoma Christian was third and Tulane placed fourth.
