HOUSTON — The Sam Houston bowling team just missed bringing home top honors at TRACK Kat Klash on Sunday at Emerald Bowl.
The Bearkats were the fourth seed in the championship bracket and had an impressive showing against Nebraska to advance to the title game. Sam Houston took the match 4-1-1 with winning scores of 246-171, 202-95, 247-217 and 202-188.
That set up a match with Maryville with a spot in the championship game on the line. Sam Houston won it 4-1 with victories of 182-179, 195-193, 196-184 and 205-181.
The Kats battled top-seeded Louisiana Tech to the wire but eventually lost in the championship match 4-2.
"Today was a grind and a complete group effort. We'll certainly build off from today as we focus on our next trip East," head coach Brad Hagen said. "We're moving in the right direction and two top five's to start the season is a solid beginning. We're still not operating on all cylinders or full strength which is exciting for the future. In the mean time we need to continue putting in the work and developing what we need to."
Sam Houston will take part in the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic on Nov. 17-19 in Millsboro, Delaware.
