MILLSBORO, Del. — The Sam Houston bowling team found its footing to close out the Hawk Classic on a high note Sunday at Millsboro Lanes.
The Bearkats dropped one spot to finish 14th, but head coach Brad Hagen saw somethings that should help the team improve moving forward. Sam Houston beat Fairleigh Dickinson 4-3 to begin the day before falling 4-1 to host Eastern Shore.
"Today was a better day overall, and it's positively frustrating to know we have it in the tank," he said. "We're still working on showing up for a whole weekend, but we're very, very close. We're working things out, and the plan is to be back at full depth and strength ASAP in January which will certainly help out our good fight.
"Time to get healthy and prioritize things moving forward. Happy we got two top 15 wins in today and highlighted our first round of match play averaging 230 for seven games that included a 279 game."
Jacksonville State led from wire to wire to finish first by Youngstown State, Vanderbilt, Louisiana Tech, North Carolina A&T, Duquesne, Merrimack, Delaware State, Mount St. Mary's, Scared Heart, Central Missouri, St. Francis and Eastern Shore.
