Nugent earns last weekly CUSA honor

DALLAS — After closing the season with another shutout, Sam Houston defender Andrea Nugent has been honored by Conference USA in its last weekly awards, the league office announced Monday.

Nugent has been named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week.

She led a Bearkat back line that posted a shutout against UTEP and allowed just six shots and three shots on goal to the Miners. It marked Sam Houston's second-straight shutout and the third against CUSA opponents this season.

The Bearkats open the CUSA Tournament against FIU on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in Ruston, Louisiana. The match will be streamed online on ESPN+.
