HUNTSVILLE— Sam Houston looks to face former WAC opponent UT Arlington on Saturday at Johnson Coliseum.
This will be the 60th all-time meeting between the Kats and the Mavericks. The last matchup ended in a 106-102 Bearkat loss in double overtime on Feb. 16.
Sam Houston is coming off a 114-51 victory at home against Texas College on Sunday.
Seven Kats scored in double digits in the victory against the Steers. Raanee Smith lead the pack with a double-double, putting up career highs of 22 points and 16 rebounds.
Smith recorded a double-double last season against UT Arlington. Sydnee Kemp scored a team-high 20 points and Kaylee Jefferson chipped in 10.
After UTA rallied to force the first overtime, Sam Houston went on a 7-2 run to open the extra period and grabbed an 89-83 advantage with 1:49 left. UTA hit a free throw, but once again the Kats went up six on a free throw by Smith a minute later.
The Mavericks were able to rally to tie it to send the game to a second overtime and grabbed the lead right out of the gate that they never relinquished.
