DALLAS — The Sam Houston bowling team is in second place following day one of the Lady Techster Classic at USA Bowl on Friday.
The Bearkats went a perfect 5-0 on the day for a total of 5,093 pins. Second-ranked Vanderbilt is in first place with 5,103 pins, No. 22 Tulane is third (4,872), No. 12 Louisiana Tech is fourth (4,815), Southern is fifth (4,534), Adelphi University is sixth (3,808), Saint Anselm is seventh (3,766) and Grambling is eighth (3,762).
"Today was by far not easy, and this center always plays very demanding so shot making was a premium," head coach Brad Hagen said. "I'm happy we did what we did today especially getting some quality ranked wins to build momentum moving forward. Every win is one step closer toward our end goal.
"If we can clean up the things we learned from today, we'll give this weekend a good run once it's all said and done."
The Bearkats opened with a 1,033-1007 victory over Vanderbilt and followed with a 930-779 win against Adelphi. Sam Houston closed the day strong with a 972 win against Grambling, a 1,130 thumping of Louisiana Tech and a dominate 1,028-785 victory over Saint Anselm.
