HUNTSVILLE — South Dakota State scored two late runs to slip past Sam Houston at the Bearkat Classic on Saturday.
Brailey Wasik pitched gem for the Bearkats (1-3), allowing one run off two hits with four strikeouts over five innings. Sam Houston just couldn't generate any offense as the Jackrabbits (3-1) got a no-hitter from starter Tori Kniesche.
Brodie Quinlan did draw a walk to begin the fifth inning for the Bearkats' lone baserunner of the night in a scoreless game. The Jackrabbits scored on a hit and run in the sixth and added an insurance run in the seventh on a solo home run to seal the victory.
Sam Houston closes the Bearkat Classic against Northwestern State Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
