DALLAS — The Sam Houston bowling team remains in second place at the Lady Techster Classic at USA Bowl following day two on Saturday.
The Bearkats went 3-2 to improve to 8-2 for the tournament and now have 9,724 total pins which trails only Vanderbilt which sits in first with 10,495 pins. Tulane is third (9,644) followed by Louisiana Tech (9,515), Southern (8,911), Adelphi (7,761), Saint Anselm (7,482) and Grambling (7,233).
"We started the day so well and then due to a breakdown; I think we just got flat after that," head coach Brad Hagen said. "Two late day starts is no fun, but we needed to be better today mentally and with our execution. Simply put, no excuses and we just need to be better on Sunday.
"We're still in the mix to hit all our goals this weekend which is enough motivation to hit the restart button for Sunday and step up. New day equals a new opportunity to be better."
Alexia Cassman is seventh place in the individual standings with 598 pins for a 199.3 average. Her best round came in two where she rolled a 215.
Elise Chambers is also in the top 10 at No. 8 with 587 pins for a 195.67 average. She rolled a 211 in game one on Saturday.
The Bearkats conclude the Lady Techster Classic on Sunday.
