HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston overcame a nine-point deficit late in the third quarter to knock off Tarleton 58-57 at Johnson Coliseum on Saturday.

Kaylee Jefferson,
Sydnee Kemp and
Madelyn Batista each chipped in seven.
The Texans took a 47-38 lead with 45 seconds to go in the third quarter and led by eight with 4:15 to go in the game. That's when Sam Houston made its move.
Coleman knocked down a jumper and Kemp scored on a layup to cut the lead to 54-50. Batista scored off a layup and hit a free throw to convert an old-fashioned three-point play to make it a one-point game with 2:11 on the clock.
Woods buried a pair of free throws to give the Kats the lead at 55-54. Tarleton took the lead with 51 seconds left in the game, but Woods answered with a jumper which proved to be the game winner 27 seconds later.
The Bearkats travel to Nacogdoches to face rival Stephen F. Austin on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
