
Bearkats compete at Victor Lopez Classic

HOUSTON — The Sam Houston track and field teams competed at the Victor Lopez Classic over the weekend as outdoor season begins to kick into high gear.
Sophomore Rajer Gurode placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.57 seconds.
Sophomore Dynasty McClennon finished fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.19. Junior Tia Harry was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.17.
Junior Macie Ellis finished ninth in the 5,000-meter runs with a time of 18:25.20. Sophomore Ellie Galan was 10th in the 800-meter runs with a time of 2:19.32.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Jemia Goree, Gurode, Keshana Page and Anivea Gilbert placed third with a time of 44.87, and the B relay of Jackeria Woodkins, Chisom Bright-Osigwe, Michayla Ivory and Xazari Naylor was sixth with a time of 46.49.
The 4x400-meter relay of Amaya Kennison-Jenkins, McClennon, Goree and Woodkins placed third with a time of 3:46.21.
In the field events, sophomore Rachel Maciejeski finished third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.81 meters. Junior Bailey Cotton was fourth with a height of 3.71 meters.
Charlee Salinas finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 14.71 meters. Freshman Alauna Richardson was 10th in the discus with a throw of 41.81, and junior Jadyn Walden was 10th in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.94.
For the men, freshman Derrick Warren Jr. finished ninth in the 200 meters with a time of 21.48. Freshman Christian Rohlack was ninth in the 800 with a time of 1:51.28.
Senior Elijah McWilliams finished ninth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:52.16. Junior Bryce Barbay placed 10th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.36.
The 4x400 relay of Warren, Jabari Mitchell, Jacob Compton and Rohlack finished sixth with a time of 3:16.57.
Senior Steven Gruss placed fourth in the high jump with a leap of 1.97 meters. Freshman Benjamin Carlile was seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 4.80 meters, and junior Sebastian Garcia was ninth with a height of 4.40 meters.
Warren placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 7.19 meters. Nick Palutis finished eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 13.03 meters.
Cobe Graham was eighth in the shot put with a throw of 15.87 meters. Freshman Nikos Fotinopoulos was ninth with a toss of 15.76.
Junior Luke Thielemann placed sixth in the discus with a mark of 49.98, and he finished seventh in the hammer with a throw of 53.82.
