ARLINGTON — Emma Guindon has been named the Western Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week after guiding Sam Houston to an upset over No. 25 Texas A&M, the league announced Monday.
 
The graduate transfer from Tomball dominated the Aggies in a 4-0 victory on Saturday to kick off the Baylor Tournament. She tossed seven shutout innings and only allowed five hits to go with a pair of strikeouts.
 
It was Sam Houston's first win against a top-25 opponent since the Bearkats knocked off No. 9 Texas 2-1 in the opening game of the NCAA Austin Regional in 2019.
