Norman, OK. — Sam Houston split its Saturday slate at the Oklahoma Tournament, defeating Alabama State 9-3 before falling to No. 2 Oklahoma 10-2 in five innings at Love's Field.Â

The Bearkats (13-8) built an early cushion, scoring seven runs through the first four innings to take control. The Hornets (6-15) answered with two runs in the fourth, but Sam Houston limited further damage to secure the 9-3 win.Â
Veronica Harrison blasted her seventh home run of the season, while freshman Abbey Papadimitriou recorded her first career home run in the top of the seventh. Bella Perez paced the offense with two hits. In the circle, Amy Abke struck out four.Â

The Sooners (17-2) struck early and held the Bearkats scoreless through four innings.Â
Sam Houston loaded the bases in the fifth, and Jordan Peno was hit by a pitch to bring home the first run. Perez followed with a sacrifice fly to right field to plate another. Oklahoma made a pitching change and closed out the 10-2 run-rule victory.Â
Tiffany Sanchez recorded two strikeouts in the circle.Â
The Bearkats conclude play at the Oklahoma Tournament at 10 a.m. Sunday against Southeastern Louisiana at Love's Field.
