Bowling adds NAIA standout

HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston's the nationally ranked bowling program is proud to announce its newest signee, Katie Paris.

Paris of Rapid City, South Dakota is coming off another solid year while attending NAIA nationally ranked UT Southern which competed out of the Mid-South Conference.Â
Â
Paris's success on and off the lanes is very notable and will make an excellent addition to the Bearkat roster. Her latest achievements include, first-team all-conference (2021,2023), second-team all-conference (2022), Champions of Character Team (2023) and academic all-conference (2022, 2023).

"Katie's passion and drive to join us and get to work will be a great asset as she gets acclimated to SHSU," head coach Brad Hagen said. "One of her greatest strengths is knowing what she wants, and her competitiveness is what motivates her to want more."Â Â

Paris comes from a long line of competitiveness includes travel and varsity softball through out high school while attending Rapid City Central to competing nationally at her former school. These events included her achieving three all-tournament team selections, three all-state honors and two Top Cobbler awards (softball).

"Her competitive experience will play key roles in her success on and off the lanes," Hagen said. "Katie is looking to get to work immediately which will play a huge role in her developmental success here as a Bearkat. She adds a lot of competitive discipline academically and athletically, and her work ethic makes her an excellent addition to this program's future."
At Sam Houston, Paris will continue her academic success as a bio-medical science major, and she will transfer in with a 3.95 gpa.
