
Kats bring home hardware at WAC Championships

NACOGDOCHES — The Sam Houston women's team placed ninth and the men's team came in 10th at the 2023 Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend.
The Bearkats had several student-athletes make it to the medal stand.
Cobe Graham took gold in the men's shot put with a throw of 17.93 meters, and Luke Thielemann won the men's hammer throw with a toss of 61.26.
Rachel Maciejeski tied for first in the pole vault with a height of 4.02 meters, and Rajer Gurode cruised to a gold medal in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.41 seconds.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Jemia Goree, Gurode, Keshana Pag and Xazari Naylor finished third with a time of 45.28 seconds. Gurode also won the bronze in the 200 meters with a time of 23.61.
Amaya Kennison-Jenkins, Dynasty McClennon, Goree and Jackeria Woodkins teamed up to place third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:43.98.
Other Bearkats who placed in the top include:
Rajer Gurode, fourth in the 100 with a time of 11.37.
Charlee Salinas, fifth in the shot put with a throw of 14.95 meters.
Derrick Warren Jr., fifth in the long jump with a leap of 7.53.
Dynasty McClennon, sixth in the 400-meter run with a time of 54.95.
Jackeria Woodkins, seventh in the 400 with a time of 55.04.
Bailey Cotton, seventh in the pole vault at 3.62 meters.
Benjamin Carlile, seventh in the pole vault with a height of 4.89 meters.
Jackeria Woodkins, eighth in the 400 with a time of 56.05.
Kimberly Carr, eighth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:01.87.
Lilly Rodel, eighth in the discus throw with a mark of 46.19.
Nikos Fotinopoulos placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 15.39 meters.
