AUSTIN — Sam Houston could not match No. 5 Texas' power at the plate in a 12-2 loss in five innings at McCombs Field on Wednesday.
The Longhorns (40-9-1) hits three doubles and a pair of home runs, including a walk-off grand slam, to beat the Bearkats (21-32) for the second time this season. Texas topped Sam Houston 4-0 at Bearkat Softball Complex on March 14.

Sam Houston was able to tie it in the top of the third thanks to some timely hitting.
Haleigh Carter led off with a single up the middle and moved to third on a two-out single by
Ellie Grill.
Tricia Yarotsky cranked a two-run double to right center field to knot that game at 2.
Texas broke the tie with a two-run home run in the third. The Longhorns tacked on two more in fourth on a costly fielding error and scored six in the fifth highlighted by the grand slam to right center field.
The Bearkats wrap up the regular season with the final Western Athletic Conference series at UT Arlington this weekend. Sam Houston is fighting for position in the league's postseason tournament which will be held in Phoenix, Arizona May 10-13.
