Bowlers named to SBL Honor Roll

FRISCO — Five Sam Houston student-athletes were named to the Southland Bowling League 2023 Academic Honor Roll on Tuesday.

Junior Denise Blankenzee, senior Alexia Cassman, graduate student Elise Chambers, senior Kaia Gray and graduate student Bea Hernandez all earned a spot on the honor roll. Blankenzee, Chambers and Hernandez were also named to the All-SBL teams after guiding the Bearkats to the Arlington Regional as an at-large bid this season, marking the 11th time in 13 years Sam Houston had qualified for the NCAA Championships.

The SBL Academic Honor Roll was put into place during the 2018-19 school year and is currently in its fifth season of recognition. All nominees for the Southland Bowling League's Academic Honor Roll team must have earned at least a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and demonstrated athletics achievement for at least one year at the nominating institution.
