DALLAS — Sophomore midfielder Kennedy Baquero has been named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Baquero helped guide the Bearkats to a 2-2 draw against Rice and a 1-0 victory over Incarnate Word with her team-leading third and fourth goals of the season last week. This is her first weekly honor.

The Montgomery product gave Sam Houston the early lead over the Owls when she scored in the eighth minute to make it 1-0 on Sept. 7. She followed that with the game-winning goal against the Cardinals that broke a scoreless tie in the 70th minute on Sept. 10 as the Kats notched their first road win of the season.
