Hall, Nugent earn CUSA weekly honors

DALLAS — Sam Houston picked up two weekly honors after blanking Jacksonville State to notch its first Conference USA win on Sunday, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Savannah Hall was named the CUSA Goalkeeper of the Week, and Andrea Nugent was named Defensive Player of the Week as the Bearkats posted back-to-back shutouts.
Hall recorded her second consecutive clean sheet and finished with four saves in a 2-0 win over Jacksonville State. She made a pair of stops in each half, including two in the final 11 minutes of the match as the Gamecocks attempted to climb back from a 2-0 deficit. Over her last five matches, Hall owns a .852 save percentage and is averaging 4.6 stops per game.
Nugent helped lead a defensive front that posted its second consecutive shutout in a 2-0 victory over Jacksonville State on Sunday. The Bearkats allowed just four shots on goal on 13 total attempts. She assisted on the second goal of the match with a ball played ahead to Pam Murray, who chipped it over the keeper to make it 2-0 in the 64th minute.
