HUNTSVILLE — Florida International scored three goals in the second half to hand Sam Houston it's first Conference USA loss on Thursday night at Pritchett Field.
The 3-0 setback also snapped the Bearkats two-match winning streak as they fall to 3-4-2 on the season and 1-1 in league play. It also marked the first time Sam Houston had given up a goal following back-to-back shutout wins over Incarnate Word and Jacksonville State.
The Kats shut down the Panthers through the first 49 minutes of the match, but a cornerkick lead to what would prove to be the game-winning goal in the 50th minute. Sam Houston had a golden opportunity to tie the match with an open net soon after except
Tiana Johnson was unable to get her shot to go in.
FIU scored a pair of insurance goals in the 59th and 76th minutes to seal the victory.
