LAKE CHARLES, La. — Sam Houston rallied from a 2-1 deficit to knock off Jackson State at the McNeese Invitational on Friday afternoon.
The Bearkats (5-3) dropped the first set 25-21 then came roaring back to tie the match at a set a piece with a 25-15 victory. Jackson State took the third set 25-19, but Sam Houston had plenty left in the tank.
The Kats took care of business in the fourth set with a 25-16 win, then closed out the match with a 15-8 victory in the fifth set to capture the match.
McKenzie Morvant led Sam Houston with 20 kills, and
Hailey Heider added 12.
Hannah Baker finished with 18 digs, and
Avery Fowler had 31 assists in the 3-2 victory.
The Bearkats close out the tournament with a pair of matches Saturday. Sam Houston will face Southeast Missouri at 10:30 a.m. then close the event against the Cowgirls at 6:30 p.m.
