HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston faces a key matchup when Middle Tennessee comes to Pritchett Field for a Conference USA clash on Sunday.
The Bearkats (6-6-2, 3-3 CUSA) are trying to bounce back from consecutive league losses at home to Liberty and FIU to stay in the thick of the CUSA regular season championship race. Sam Houston fell to fifth place in the standings following last week's setbacks.
The Blue Raiders (7-7, 4-2) are looking to move up from third in the conference standings when they tangle with the Kats Sunday. FIU remains in first place at 5-0, and Liberty is second at 4-1-1.
This is the last chance Sam Houston has at home to gain ground or keep pace with the rest of the top of the field. The Bearkats close out the regular season at UTEP on Oct. 27 and WKU on Nov. 1.
The top six teams in the regular season will qualify for the CUSA Championship which will be held in Miami on Nov. 6-10 at FIU.
Sunday's match is scheduled to kick at 1 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
