KENNESAW, Ga. – The Sam Houston volleyball team fell 3-1 to Kennesaw State on Saturday at the KSU Convocation Center.
The Bearkats (11-10, 6-4 CUSA) took one set but couldn't secure the win, dropping the match 17-25, 25-16, 21-25, 21-25 to the Owls.
Kennesaw State closed the first set with a late run, winning 25-17. Sam Houston bounced back in the second set, taking control with a 25-16 victory behind Lylah Washington, who had seven of the teams15 kills in the frame.
Despite a strong push from the Bearkats in the third set, Kennesaw State held on to take it 25-21, and then sealed the match with another 25-21 win in the fourth.
Washington recorded a career-high 23 kills while hitting .419 and notched a double-double with 11 digs. Avery Fowler also posted a double-double, dishing out 38 assists and adding 10 digs.
The Bearkats will return home to host Jacksonville State on Thursday and Friday, with both matches airing on ESPN+.
