Kats focus on improving tourney seeding

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The Sam Houston women's soccer team looks to close the regular season on a winning note when the team heads to Western Kentucky for the Conference USA finale on Friday.

The Bearkats (7-7-2, 4-4) can wrap up the fourth seed in the CUSA postseason tournament with a win over the Hilltoppers at the WKU Soccer Complex.

Sam Houston secured a tournament berth after Jax State tied with first-place FIU on Thursday. The Gamecocks were still in contention but needed a win to earn the points to stay in the hunt.

As it stands, FIU, Liberty, Sam Houston, NM State and Middle Tennessee are all locked in to meet in Miami next week with a chance to go to the NCAA Tournament on the line.

Friday's match is set to kick at 6 p.m. and will not be streamed online.
