BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Sam Houston locked down the No. 4 seed in the Conference USA postseason tournament with a 1-0 victory over Western Kentucky in the regular season finale on Friday at the WKU Soccer Complex.

The Bearkats clinched their spot in the tournament on Thursday when Jax State tied with FIU. The top six teams will battle it out in Miami next week with a shot at the NCAA Tournament on the line.

Sam Houston entered Friday's finale dealing with the injury bug. After starting CUSA play 3-1, the Kats went 2-3 down the stretch with Friday's win giving them some momentum heading into the tournament.

The game was deadlocked late in the first half as both defenses played great. In fact, the two teams combined for just three shots on goal (two by the Kats) before
Indigo Sims broke the scoreless tie with the game winner in the 82
nd minute.

Cassia Souza earned the save in the net for Sam Houston. She finished with two saves on the evening.
