Kats to compete at XC regional

COLLEGE STATION — The Sam Houston men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the NCAA South Central Regional on Friday.

The women are set to run the 6K course at 9 a.m. with the men to follow on the 10K course at 10.

Backed by a fifth-place finish in the individual competition, Gudisa Adnow earned Outstanding Senior of the Meet and first team All-CUSA honors after leading Sam Houston to a fourth-place showing at the Conference USA Championships earlier this month.

Christian Rivera was named second team after placing 12th with a time of 24:27.35. Mario Ruiz gave the Kats another top 20 finish, coming in 16th with a time of 24:37.41 to earn third-team All-CUSA accolades.

The women's team placed ninth at the cross country championships. Ellie Galan was Sam Houston's top finisher with a time of 21:36.49 to be named third team All-CUSA as well.
