Softball releases 2025 schedule

HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston softball team and head coach Garrett Valis unveiled the 2025 schedule on Thursday, a challenging slate as the program enters its second season in Conference USA.Â
Season-ticket renewals are scheduled to become available for the 2025 season on November 29 and can be purchased by visiting GoBearkats.com/tickets or by calling the Bearkat Ticket Office at 936-294-1729.Â
The 56-game schedule includes 24 games at the Bearkat Softball Complex, including SHSU hosting the Bearkat Classic on the season's opening weekend, February 7-9. The season opener will a single game vs New Mexico on February 6 before the Classic gets going the following day. Included in the field for the Bearkat Classic will be the Texas Longhorns, along with Bryant, Tulsa and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Â
The Kats will also take part in pre-conference tournaments at Louisiana, UTSA, and Baylor with Central Arkansas, Ole Miss at the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette. When in San Antonio the Kats will take on St. Thomas (MN), Akron, Omaha and UTSA before being joined in Waco by North Texas, California Baptist and Baylor.Â
Sam Houston kick off Conference USA play with three games at home vs WKU on March 7-9 and will then alternate weekends home and away with series at Middle Tennessee (March 14-16) and NM State (March 28-30) sandwiched around hosting Kennesaw State on March 21-23.Â
Sam Houston will return from Las Cruces for a pair of home weekends against FIU (April 2-4) and UTEP (April 11-13) before going on the road for consecutive series at Liberty (April 17-19) and Jax State (March 25-27). The Kats will conclude the regular season with a series vs Louisiana Tech in Huntsville on May 2-4.Â
Midweek games include single home and away games vs Texas State on February 19 and April 2 and a trek to Texas A&M on March 25. Others are a home-and-home vs Lamar (February 25 and April 22), HCU (March 11), a doubleheader at East Texas A&M (March 4) and a single game at Stephen F. Austin on March 19.Â
The Conference USA Tournament is scheduled for May 7-10 at Helen of Troy Field in El Paso.
