EL PASO – The Sam Houston volleyball team couldn't regain its momentum in a 3-1 loss to New Mexico State at Memorial Gym on Friday.
The Bearkats (13-17, 8-11 CUSA) closed their season with set scores of 25-21, 8-25, 16-25, and 20-25.
Sam Houston took the first set 25-21, fueled by four aces from Avery Fowler and Lylah Washington. The Bearkats capitalized on Aggies' errors to gain an early edge.
New Mexico State responded by holding the Bearkats to just eight points in the second set, and Sam Houston struggled to regain its energy from there.
McKenzie Morvant led the Bearkats with eight kills, while Chelsea Butler added seven. Fowler finished with 24 assists and two service aces.
