Lubbock - Sam Houston took home multiple gold medals at the Jarvis Scott Open hosted by Texas Tech at Sports Performance Center over the weekend .
The Bearkats topped three events over the weekend, including the men's 200-meter run, pole vault and weight throw. The women's team received second place in the pole vault event as well.
Sam Houston also traveled to Pittsburgh, Kansas to compete in the 9th Gorilla Invitation hosted by Pittsburgh State at the Robert W. Plaster Center.
The meet began on Friday with Bailey Cotton securing second place in the women's pole vault with an average jump of 3.78 meters.
Emma Peterson was not too far behind, finding herself in a three-way tie for third place with an average jump of 3.63 meters.
Next up, Benjamin Carlie took home gold in the B-section of the men's pole vault with an average jump of 5.16 meters.
Dalton Smith secured fourth place with an average jump of 4.86 meters and
Bryce Barbay rounded out the top ten with an average jump of 4.56 meters.
Brian Orlando would grab the next gold for the Kats in the men's B-section weight throw with a throw of 18.68 meters. Luke Thieleman grabbed the bronze medal with a throw of 17.99 meters.
Over in Pittsburgh,
Mario Ruiz placed fourth in the men's 5000-meter run with a time of 14:40.11 minutes and
Gudisa Adnow finished eighth with a 14:43.15 minute run.
Christian Rivera placed seventh in the 1-mile run with a 4:08.72 time.
Moving over to Saturday,
Jayden Jones secured the Kats' third gold medal. Topping the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 21.05 seconds.
Rajer Gurode also finished fifth in the women's 60-meter dash with a 7.39 second run.
Sam Houston will travel to the Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Tournament hosted by Liberty at the Liberty Indoor Track & Field complex on Feb. 23 & 24th.
