
Jones earns CUSA weekly honor

DALLAS — Sam Houston sprinter Jayden Jones has been named the Conference USA Male Freshman of the Week following his performance at the Jarvis Scott Classic hosted by Texas Tech over the weekend.
Jones finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.12 seconds. His mark is the second fastest in CUSA this indoor season behind UTEP's Xavier Butler.
Jones also has the second-best time in CUSA this season in the 60 meters. He ran it in 6.69 seconds at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational hosted by Houston last month.
This is the first time in his career that Jones has received a weekly honor from CUSA.
