JONESBORO, Ark. — The Sam Houston bowling team placed seventh at the Mid Winter Classic at the Jonesboro Bowling Center on Sunday.
The Bearkats went 9-4 overall and finished with 13,432 total pins. Host Arkansas State claimed the championship followed by Vanderbilt, Maryville, Jacksonville State, Nebraska and Youngstown State.
"Despite loosing in the second round in game seven on a demanding tough pair, today overall was our best Sunday of the year from consistency and competitiveness," head coach Brad Hagen said. "This weekend was a big testament to where we are against our fellow regional opponents, and we're still taking steps forward which is all that matters. Progress with purpose is our main focus and tightening up the things that need it."
Sam Houston opened the day with a 4-2 victory over No. 7 Louisiana Tech. The Bearkats lost to Nebraska but picked up another top 25 win, a 4-2 victory, over McKendree.
