Kats start with a near-perfect Friday

GREENSBORO, NC. - Sam Houston got off to a 4-1 start Friday at the Stallings Invitational hosted by North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The Bearkats kicked off the tournament winning four straight baker matches, including wins against fifth ranked Vanderbilt and fourth ranked North Carolina A&T. They could not complete the perfect sweep, as they would fall by just 10 pins against Mt. Saint Mary's.
The Kats hope to bounce back from a seventh- place showing at the Mid-Winter Classic last week, as head coach Brad Hagen highlights the importance of this weekend.
"We got a solid four wins which included two top-five teams which is exactly what we needed," said Hagen. "When the lane surface is as old as it is, late in the day quality disciplined shots are a must and something you can't be afraid of. Everyone saw what they saw today so no surprises tomorrow."
Sam Houston will look to continue its winning ways tomorrow in the traditional matches, first match will be against Lincoln Memorial University.
