Kats bowl a perfect Saturday

GREENSBORO, NC. — Sam Houston kept its winning momentum with a perfect Saturday at the Stallings Invitational hosted by North Carolina A&T.
The Bearkats turned in a perfect 5-0 Saturday in the traditional matches, building on their 4-1 record yesterday during the Baker matches.
Highlights from the traditional matches included wins against No. 12 UAB and No. 14 Norfolk State. However, the Kats would save their best for last, taking down No. 1 ranked Jacksonville State 1038-1028 to secure a perfect day.
Head Coach Brad Hagen understood the impact today had not only for the team, but the Kats' standing in the tournament as a whole
"It was really nice overall today to see us making shots when they were 'needed,' but more importantly to see the team not react if mistakes were made." Hagen said. "That's a huge plus and part of the major learning curve any team goes through. We're checking boxes and w's and that remains our focus."
Sam Houston will look to take the top spot at the Stallings Invitational on Sunday with the start of bracket play.
