Football set to close spring practice with full Saturday

HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston football team will close out its spring practice season with a busy Saturday on campus, highlighted by the Spring Game in the morning and the return of the Bearkat Football Auction that evening.

Bearkat fans are invited to Bowers Stadium for the Spring Game as Sam Houston head coach K.C. Keeler prepares the program for its second season in Conference USA. The game will pit the Bearkat Offense vs the Bearkat Defense with a modified scoring system in place. Play is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.

Admission is free and concessions will be available for the event, which is scheduled to last approximately two hours.

Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to secure their seats for the 2024 season as full-season ticket packages will be available to purchase. Fans interested in becoming season ticket holders are encouraged to speak with ticket representatives on site to help reserve seats for the upcoming season.

Additionally, fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for when the Kats' renew an old rivalry this fall against Texas State in a game set to take place at NRG Stadium on September 28.

After the Spring Game, fans can bridge the gap from football to the auction by trekking over to Don Sanders Stadium where the Bearkat Baseball team will battle Middle Tennessee in a Conference USA matchup.

First pitch vs the Blue Raiders is scheduled for 12 p.m. in what will be the middle game of the weekend series. The Kats are scheduled to close out the weekend vs MTSU at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are available at GoBearkats.com/tickets or at the Don Sanders Stadium ticket office. Fans are encouraged to check GoBearkats.com and follow @BearkatsBSB on social media for any changes to the weekend due to the likelihood of inclement weather.

Bearkat Athletics will then host the Bearkat Football Auction from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Johnson Coliseum.

The event, put in place to raise funds for Bearkat Football, includes a steak dinner and features both a silent and live auction with items such as Bearkat Athletic apparel, gift certificates, trips, golf outings, sports memorabilia and more.

Tables and tickets are now available and all proceeds will directly benefit Bearkat Football, Bearkat Athletics and SHSU student-athletes.
