Bearkats release 2024 fall schedule

HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston soccer team released its schedule for the 2024 season with eight matches set to be played in Huntsville, including four Conference USA contests.

The Kats went 6-4-7 in its first season in CUSA a year ago under third-year head coach Sonia Curvelo. Sam Houston went 3-3-2 in league play in 2023 and went 1-1 in the postseason tournament.

Sam Houston will open the season with an exhibition match at Texas Southern on Aug. 9. The Kats will begin the 2024 campaign at home against Stephen F. Austin at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 15.

SHSU will travel to Houston on Aug. 18 then return home for a match against Houston Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 23. A trip to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. and then back at home against Incarnate Word on Aug. 29.

The next three games are on the road on Sept. 1 (7 p.m.) against Lamar, Sept. 5 against ULM (5 p.m.) and at Rice on Sept. 8. Back-to-back home games at Pritchett Field against Southern on Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. and the CUSA opener against New Mexico State on Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m. are next on the schedule.

Sam Houston has three straight conference road games at Jacksonville State on Sept. 26, Kennesaw State on Sept. 29 and Louisiana Tech on Oct. 6. The final two home game see the Bearkats host Liberty on Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. and FIU at noon on Oct. 13.

The regular season ends with three more games away from Huntsville. Sam Houston heads to Middle Tennessee on Oct. 20, UTEP on Oct. 27 and Western Kentucky on Nov. 1.
